Last week the bowling teams met up, and in honor of Polio month, we had a fundraiser! We even had some non-bowling Rotarians drop by. That you to Tom Woolwine and David McCaughey for dropping by!

The Rotary Youth Camp has existed for over 100 years and through that time, tens of thousands of children with handicaps and disadvantaged youth have experienced fresh air, playing outdoors and experiencing nature at our beautiful Camp. The Camp staff does a terrific job in managing costs but meeting the yearly budget is a concern. The Kansas City Rotary Club Foundation covers shortfalls in the budget and assures the future of the Camp for the children in our community.
It takes a $1,000 contribution to become a Fellow of the Foundation or you may become a Fellow by first being a Sustaining Member with a series of smaller contributions. Through October, there is a special discount for new contributors. Contribute $800 and you’ll be a Fellow! If you prefer to be a Sustaining Member, you can make a series of smaller contributions with a minimum of $25 over a period of time until reaching the $1,000 Fellow level. Through October, all new Sustaining Members contributions will be matched $1 for $1 - up to $200.
Twelve Club 13 Rotarians and guests volunteered at Project CURE for an engaging, hands-on experience. The group sorted medical supplies that will be shipped to hospitals and clinics in resource limited countries. Thank you to Rotarian Francis Karanu who organizes this annual event.
This past weekend the camp hosted 3 Scouting America groups, a Boys Troop, a Girls Troop and Cub Pack! They had a perfect weather weekend and besides having a great time playing basketball, GaGa ball and making music, they were able to mulch most of the trees around camp for the winter. Kansas City Indian Center donated a memorial tree which was planted so it will give some shade to the gazebo in the mornings.
