Rotary Book Discussion Group
Feb. 09, 2026 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

Please join the Rotary Book Discussion Group for the discussion of the book The God of the Woods by Liz Moore.  The book is available at Rainy Day Books and all Rotarians and guests are welcome.

About the book:

Early morning, August 1975, a camp counselor discovers an empty bunk.  This occupant, Barbara Van Laar, has gone missing.  Barbara isn’t just any thirteen year-old, she’s the daughter of the family that owns the summer camp and employs most of the region’s residents.  And this isn’t the first time a Van Laar child has disappeared.  Barbara’s older brother similarly vanished fourteen years ago, never to be found.  As a painful search begins, a thrilling drama unfolds.  Chasing down the layered secrets of the Van Laar family and the blue-collar community working in its shadows, Moore’s multithreaded story invites readers into a rich and gripping dynasty of secrets and second chances.

Geeks for Kids Build Day
Feb. 14, 2026 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

It’s "all hands on deck" for Build Events. Over the course of each Build, 40 to 75 volunteers strive to assemble 10 to 12 cars in a day.

No tech skills are necessary for many tasks. There are lots of jobs for our technically-minded folks, too.

There is lots of work for every skill set and interest. And, no one has to "go it alone."  One of our experienced team leaders supports every team.

You can join us for the day and see a build through from beginning to end, or you can choose to volunteer for just the morning or afternoon. The morning shift runs from 8:30a to 1:30p, and the afternoon shift runs from 11:30 to 4:30p.

Drinks, lunch and snacks will be served.
