This Week's Meeting
March 6, 2025

This week's speaker is Andrew C. Robb, Partner, Robb & Robb LLC.

Andrew is a Partner at Robb & Robb LLC and dedicates his career to representing injured people and their families, with a focus on aviation accidents. He has litigated against national and multi-national corporations, and he has been involved in some of the most high-profile and complex aviation cases in U.S. history, including successful pre-trial resolution in Bryant v. Island Express, et al. on behalf of the Bryant family, following the 2020 helicopter crash that killed NBA Legend Kobe Bryant and his daughter, Gianna (Confidential Settlement)

In addition to these record-breaking results, since joining Robb & Robb in 2020, Andrew has successfully resolved many cases on behalf of deserving clients and their families, from coast-to-coast. Andrew has been selected by his peers as “One to Watch” in both 2022 and 2023 by “The Best Lawyers in America,” which has come to be regarded by both the legal profession and the public as the definitive guide to legal excellence in the United States. He has also been named to the Missouri Lawyers Media’s “Up & Coming” list for 2021.

Andrew is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University and of the University of Michigan Law School, where he was a Notes Editor on the Michigan Law Review and won First Place in the 91st Annual Campbell Moot Court Competition. Prior to joining Robb & Robb LLC, Andrew was an Associate at Boies Schiller & Flexner LLP in New York City. Following law school, he clerked for the Honorable Duane Benton on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, and for the Honorable Greg Kays on the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri.

Alongside his wife, Brittany, Andrew joined Robb & Robb LLC in February of 2020. Andrew is proud to work for a firm that can make a real difference in its clients’ lives and help prevent others from being injured by hazardous products and irresponsible corporate practices. Andrew finds great joy in working at Robb & Robb LLC alongside his family—his parents, Founding Partners Gary C. Robb and Anita Porte Robb, and his wife, Partner Brittany Sanders Robb.

Last Week's Meeting
There was no lunch meeting last week, but we did have a Social Hour gathering at Aixois, and excited to report that we received two new member applications! Emmanuel Langlade (owner of Aixois) and Ruth-Ann Clurman (pictured)! It was a lovely event for the more than 30 people in attendance!
Book Discussion Group
Please join the Rotary Book Discussion Group for the discussion of the book The Storied Life of AJ Fikry by Gabriella Zevin. The book discussion will be led by Vivien Jennings and all Rotarians and guests are welcome.

Date: Monday, March 10, 2025, 6:30 PM
Location: J. Wilbur Company

About the book:
A. J. Fikry’s life is not at all what he expected it to be. His wife has died, his bookstore is experiencing the worst sales in its history, and now his prized possession, a rare collection of Poe poems, has been stolen. Slowly but surely, he is isolating himself from all the people of Alice Island—from Lambiase, the well-intentioned police officer who’s always felt kindly toward Fikry; from Ismay, his sister-in-law who is hell-bent on saving him from his dreary self; from Amelia, the lovely and idealistic (if eccentric) Knightley Press sales rep who keeps on taking the ferry over to Alice Island, refusing to be deterred by A.J.’s bad attitude. Even the books in his store have stopped holding pleasure for him. These days, A.J. can only see them as a sign of a world that is changing too rapidly..

And then a mysterious package appears at the bookstore. It’s a small package, but large in weight. It’s that unexpected arrival that gives A. J. Fikry the opportunity to make his life over, the ability to see everything anew. It doesn’t take long for the locals to notice the change overcoming A.J.; or for that determined sales rep, Amelia, to see her curmudgeonly client in a new light; or for the wisdom of all those books to become again the lifeblood of A.J.’s world; or for everything to twist again into a version of his life that he didn’t see coming. As surprising as it is moving, The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry is an unforgettable tale of transformation and second chances, an irresistible affirmation of why we read, and why we love.
Rotary Friendship Exchange Hosts Needed
Attention Rotarians! Hosts are needed for the Rotary Friendship Exchange from Zambia in June. We will need 5 or 6 hosts to host a couple, or two visiting Rotarians each for the days of June 15, 16 and 17. The hosts will house and feed the visitors for the three days of their visit. We will be taking them to some events as well. Those are yet to be determined. If you are interested in hosting these Rotarians from Zambia, please contact Marc Horner.

Rotary Youth Camp Update
by Laurie Mozley
The Monday Morning Gang was out to put in some sweat equity for the Club 13 District Grant. The ground should be leveled and grass seed down just in time for the rain tomorrow.  Don’t forget to mark your calendars for Saturday, March 22nd 1-3 for the unveiling/ ribbon cutting!
Centennial Memory
The original platforms for the Out Post tent area were designed to be broken down and stored at the end of each summer.  The new design allowed for them to be permanently left in the Out Post area which would allow for the off season groups to put their own tents on them and be used all year long.  The new design was also more stable for use by our disabled campers.  The new interior frames for the tents made set up of the canvas tents much easier.
