Date: Monday, November 10, 2025, 6:30 PM
Location: J. Wilbur Company
3242 Roanoke
Kansas City, MO 64111

About the book:
Bo is running out of time.  Yet time is one of the few things he’s got left. These days, his quiet existence is broken up only by daily visits from his home care team.  Fortunately, he still has his beloved elkhound Sixten to keep him company. . . though now his son, with whom Bo has had a rocky relationship, insists on taking the dog away, claiming that Bo has grown too old to properly care for him. The threat of losing Sixten stirs up a whirlwind of emotion, leading Bo to take stock of his life, his relationships, and the imperfect way he’s expressed his love over the years.
The KCRCF Fundraising Campaign Closing This Week

Through the month of October there has been a fundraising campaign for the Kansas City Rotary Club Foundation with a special discount for new contributors.  The Campaign is nearly over and the final date to qualify for the discount is October 31st.  The Foundation supports the Rotary Youth Camp’s operating budget and assures the future of the Camp.

Many thanks to the existing Foundation Fellows and Sustaining Members for your past support.  If you are not a Fellow or a Sustaining Member, please consider contributing now and take advantage of the $200 discount during the month of October and become a Foundation Fellow OR consider making a contribution of a minimum of $25 with a pledge of $25 per month.

Please consider making a donation now!

Rotary Youth Camp Update
The month of October flew past!!! The house addition is moving right along, it did help that the weather was so good for most of the month.

There were 4 groups that used the Rotary Youth Camp over the October weekends along with 3 Eagle projects completed.  A local middle/high school group came out one day and helped relocate about a million walnuts and acorns from main camp. They were sure tired when they left!  This Thursday the Lee’s Summit Rotary Club is having a hotdog/s’mores social event at the camp.  It looks like the weather will cooperate for that event.

November is a short month with the Thanksgiving weekend, but the Rotary Youth Camp is booked up!  Thank you for your enduring support of our campers!

Mayor's UN Day Dinner
United Nations Association of Greater Kansas CityThe United Nations Association of Greater Kansas City invites members of Rotary Club 13 to attend the upcoming Mayor's UN Day Dinner on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at 6pm. This year, we celebrate the 80th Anniversary and President Harry S. Truman’s championing of the United Nations Charter and its critical role within the international community. We are honored to have Mark P. Adams, Director of the Truman Library and Museum as our keynote speaker. We are also pleased to honor John Phillips, the 2025 World Citizen. For over three decades, John has devoted his time, talents, and personal resources to advancing international understanding, cultural awareness, and community. Past World Citizen recipients include our own Jan Armstrong, who was honored in 2022.

As we come together this year, Mayor Quinton Lucas will again host the dinner. He will remind us of the deep connections between Kansas City and the global community, particularly as we look forward to being a host city for the 2026 World Cup. Please join us in continuing this important tradition as learn about the UN, honor the local World Citizen of
the Year, and support the work of the UNA in Kansas City.

Tickets and information are available at una-kc.org.
