This Week's Meeting

Our Speaker this week is Dr. Sofia Khan, founder of KC for Refugees. Her topic is "Welcoming People in Need to Kansas City."
Dr Sofia Khan is a local physician, mother of five. She moved to KC from New York over 20 years ago. She is a community activist, involved in numerous charity projects for over a decade. Active in the interfaith community, she is the founder of Muslim youth of North America KC chapter and a refugee activist/ founder and President of KC for Refugees a diverse non faith based community alliance helping refugee families in the Greater Kansas City area.
 
She is the recipient of 2016 Crescent Peace Society “Peace Award” and 2017 Greater Kansas city Interfaith council’s “Steve Jeffers Leadership service award.”  She serves on the Board of Notre Dame de Sion School as part of her commitment to nurture an environment of Diversity in our community. She also serves on the board of UNA-KC, as well as Abraham house that does an interfaith build for habitat of humanity.
 
Dr. Khan is Vice President of Peace clinic a free clinic established to serve the refugee population in KC/MO. She is an ambassador of Islam. She has been a speaker at numerous venues including many area churches, Federal buildings, hospitals etc. and spoken at many interfaith panels. She has been involved in Islamic awareness programs for many years.
